Eternal Life Prayer Center
John 6:68: "To whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of Eternal Life."
Eternal Life Prayer Center is an Evangelist prayer center in Jackson, MS. Our congregation is led by Pastor Vera Bishop.
Our center is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization that exists to connect people to Jesus Christ through prayer, worship, discipleship and service. We are a sovereign, democratic, non-denominational center that serves under the leadership of Jesus Christ. We only accept members that do not have a church home. Our main focus is prayer for the community, Israel and the world.
Get to Know Us Better
The goal of our center is to make disciples of all nations and to present the saints complete in Christ.
The 5-fold ministry of Ephesians 4, the offices of Elder and Deacon and other offices mentioned in the scripture govern our center. Our organization believes our policy is a balance between congregation and Eldership authority, emphasizing the final authority of the center leadership.
It is essential to the life of our center that we practice scriptural patterns of discipline and that all discipline, both individual and corporate, be exercised by our leadership.
Pastor Vera Bishop
Our membership retains unto itself the exclusive right of self-government in all phases of the spiritual and temporal life of the center. The exception is when our membership delegates responsibilities and authorities under the terms of our bylaws or by action taken by the Board of Elders.
If you believe in and accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior, endeavor to follow Jesus in your daily and believe in the Statement of Faith, you are eligible for membership.
If you want to become a member, you must submit to the decisions, vision and direction established by our Board of Elders. You must be committed to working out problems or disagreements through communication and love. You also must accept and support the decisions of the Board of Elders when the disagreement deals with questions that are not sin or breaking the law.
You also are required to:
- Complete the new membership class and be considered in good standing
- Financially support the center and its ministries
- Spiritually support our center’s vision and ministries
You must initiate membership into our congregation. You can apply by submitting forms provided by our center.
Termination of Membership
Membership can be terminated at your request, due to death, by joining another center, by failing to uphold your membership requirements or for cause as it is determined by the Board of Elders.
A business meeting of the members is held annually so the Board of Elders can deliver financial reports, provide reviews of the prior year’s activities and propose a budget for the upcoming year.
Resolving Disputes and Discipline
Our center makes reasonable efforts to minister to and assist members experiencing spiritual, emotional, financial or other problems. Under the Board of Elders direction, our center may discipline any member whose conduct is inconsistent with our teachings. Due to the sensitive nature of these actions, all parties are protected. Our board deals with all dismissals. If the board determines a member should be excluded from our center, the Board of Elders may take this action by voting. There must be a 2/3 majority for it to pass.
Because redemption rather than punishment is the guideline that governs the attitude of one believer towards another, any person who has been terminated can request reinstatement.
